Member at Large -

While not exactly a board position, this position is reserved for a member of Hillel who wants to really make a difference. He/She is responsible for assisting the board carry out its mission to enhance Jewish life on campus. The Member at Large represents all of the students to the board as another check that the Exec Board is listening to the members. This position requires a formal letter of intent to the board as to why the candidate should be sleected as the Member at large, including their skills, qualities, and attributes that will make them successful in this position. There are two seats reserved for this position.

Currently there is one seat available for the member at large position. 

 

CMSS Liaison -

Meet with other student leaders and department heads from JMU's Center for Multicultural Student Services to discuss ways to enhance JMU's multicultural dimension. This position requires one meeting each month with CMSS leaders as well as one meeting each month with Hillel's Executive Board to make sure that Hillel is properly following CMSS protocols and staying within regulation - great position for business majors (analysis and compliance assurance).

AEPi Representative

The AEPi representative is a person who is a member of AEPi and can serve as a connection between the two organizations. The representative ensures that events between the groups do not pose problems, that our programming is mutually beneficial, and acts as a communication channel. This person does act as a board member in the respect that they are required to be present at every board meeting. This position is new and election information as well as voting powers are currently being determined.

IAC Panel Liaison

Work with the Interfaith Action Coalition at JMU. The IAC acts to promote dialogue between student groups of all faiths within JMU. The responsibilities  include attending IAC Panels as a representitave of Hillel and working with the IAC to ensure that Hillel can positively impact and aide their programming by helping to educate the campus about Judaism.

 

Shabbat Dinner Committiee Chair-

If you love Shabbat dinners, this job's for you! Work with the religious chair each month to coordinate and run our infamous Shabbat Dinners. This position requires some free time on the Thursday previous and the Friday of the Shabbat Dinner.

 

Passover Seder Committee Chair -

Work directly with the Religious Chair to ensure that the Interfaith Passover Seder is expertly planned, implemented, and executed, Interfath Seders usually bring over 100 people together to celebrate and educate on the first night of Passover. This position is runs from approxamately one month before the first night of passover, to the second day of passover. Great position for Hospitality majors!
